Today we don’t go into work. There is no USA Today newspaper today, either. The banks are closed. They probably would have closed the schools, except that all the school around here are already finished for the year and they have summer vacation. So at least the people with school age kids can spend the extra day at home with their kids and not have to pay for a babysitter. Or they can take the family away for a long weekend road trip to the beach or the mountain cabin.
Thank you to the Veterans who have made freedom and democracy possible.

There were so many fun things to do around here this weekend. Festivals, a race, outdoor concerts, Predators Open House – all kinds of things that I wanted to do. But we woke up to rain again and the events that weren’t smart enough to have a backup staging area or plans to postpone due to inclement weather had no attendance. No one around here with any brains wants to be outdoors in a thunder and lightning storm. Lightning kills people – more often than even tornadoes do. So when it’s storming here, we stay home – or at least indoors.

A friend of mine has started blogging and I didn’t even know it until today at lunch when I was talking about my blog and she spoke up about her blog. What a nice surprise! I checked out her blog as soon as I got home tonight and was very impressed. She has a pretty theme and she writes about little odds and ends like I do.
If you are interested in reading a personal blog by my friend and co-worker, Gwen Luckett, just click on the link I put in this post. Tell her I sent you!
