Big Brother

This season’s Big Brother show started a few weeks ago and I watched the first couple of shows. Then I got busy and forgot about it for a couple of weeks. Strangely, I didn’t even miss it. I mean, I don’t regret having missed it in favor of the other things I chose to do.

I wonder if this means that I’m sick of these so-called “reality shows”? They are so over produced and orchestrated that I no longer believe they have much to do with reality. And, to be honest, I resent the way Hollywood seems to think that I am stupid enough to believe them.

Up

Watched a funny little animated movie called, “Up.” It was advertised as a kid’s adventure movie. But it was much more than that. It was about an older man wanting to honor his wife’s lifelong wish to travel to a far away place. Very interesting story line and lots of humor, too.

Leon

All my friends are discovering a band called Kings of Leon. But I’ve just discovered a singer named Leon Russell. Where has this man been all my life? He has this wonderful gravelly voice and the lyrics to his songs are incredibly interesting. I really like Leon Russell and can’t wait to hear his live show.

Endless Laundry

Usually I can save up all the dirty clothes and bedding and just spend one night doing laundry. I like to do laundry on Wednesday nights. I can watch a 30 minute situation comedy, and then run down to the washer and dryer on the hour and the half hour before the start of the next show. I don’t miss any of the shows and the washer and dryer are always done with the cycle by the end of the TV show. So that way I am watching what I want and also getting my laundry done. But it is a bad night if I have something come up that prevents me from being home on Wednesday nights. It doesn’t work out the same way on Thursday night – the shows last an hour, not 30 minutes, and messes up my whole routine.

Facebook Games

A couple of months ago I joined Facebook. I know. I’m not exactly an early adopter. I like to take things a little slower and let others pay for the mistakes first.

To be honest, I joined Facebook because “all my friends are doing it” and I was starting to feel left out. I like it OK, although I haven’t learned much from my friends on FB that I don’t hear in person. But the games are pretty fun. They only last a minute or two and they are a great way to take a mind break and then go back to work with a clear head.
