The loaf of italian bread that I bought from the Publix bakery on Sunday has already got little green dots of mold growing on it. So I had to toss it out and I just hate to waste food. That also left me with no bread to go with my pasta dinner. Luckily, I had a couple of hamburger buns left over in the bottom of the bread drawer. So I took out the hamburger buns and dropped each half into my toaster. With a little butter on the toasted buns I had a nice italian dinner, with fresh bread.

My dog got stung by a bee in the grass and he got really sick. It scared me half to death. I saw him start limping and licking at his leg, so I knew something was wrong. Then he started having trouble breathing and blood started coming out of his nose and his eyes. I flipped out and drove him down to the emergency vet. Thank GOD they took him right in and gave him a shot. He was still pretty sick for a couple of hours, but I thought he was going to DIE and I can’t believe a little bee sting would DO THAT to my little dog.
This was a bad day. The only good thing is that he is OK now. But it scared me worse than anything I can remember and I’m going on the warpath against bees now. Kill them all.

The more I like dogs.

Probably the worst thing about breaking up with someone is that you don’t have that physical closeness anymore. You can’t reach out for his hand and get a squeeze back. You can’t walk in the door and get a hug. And the bed seems vast without him lying beside you.
But then again, you don’t get punched in the face or have your arm wrenched so hard it feels like it will splinter before he lets go. You don’t get pushed into the wall so hard the sheetrock caves in. And you don’t have to crawl around in the grass on your hands and knees in the dark trying to find your car keys after he grabs them out of your hand and throws them across the yard.
I would rather have a dog to keep me company than to put up with him.

There were so many fun things to do around here this weekend. Festivals, a race, outdoor concerts, Predators Open House – all kinds of things that I wanted to do. But we woke up to rain again and the events that weren’t smart enough to have a backup staging area or plans to postpone due to inclement weather had no attendance. No one around here with any brains wants to be outdoors in a thunder and lightning storm. Lightning kills people – more often than even tornadoes do. So when it’s storming here, we stay home – or at least indoors.
